Operation Broken Crown was conducted across all 50 states.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported the arrests of nearly 50 members of the Latin Kings gang and seizure of hundreds of thousands in illicit funds, dozens of firearms, and kilos of drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl. Operation Broken Crown began in October of last year with 13 field offices collaborating with federal, state, local, and tribal partners to take down members of the violent gang that was founded decades ago in Chicago.
Director Kash Patel stated, “This FBI is dismantling violent gang networks in America at a record clip — breaking their operations and saving lives in the process.” He added that the FBI “will continue working 24/7 to crush violent crime and eliminate networks facilitating harm on the American people.”
Homeland Security officials reported that Mexican criminal groups have targeted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, including the placement of bounties of federal agents.
“These individuals track ICE and CBP movements in real-time, relaying coordinates,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said. “This surveillance has enabled ambushes and disruptions during routine enforcement actions.”
